About
The 5th Grade Band is an extremely popular organization for Lisle Elementary students to participate in.   Mr. Phillip Meyer teaches all band lessons during the school day as well as full band rehearsals on Tuesdays after school. Mr. Scott Gumina assists with the Tuesday after-school rehearsals. The 5th Grade band performs three concerts per year: one in December, one in March, and one in May. 

How much should my child practice?
Consistent practice is an expectation of participating in 5th Grade Band.  I know that kids are busier then ever these days with homework and other activities that they participate in outside of school, but playing their instruments at home is critical to their improvement and success.  15-20 minutes per day 4-5 days a week is a great habit to get into, although students can absolutely practice more than that if they wish to, of course!  They especially need this practice time the first few weeks of band to build up their playing muscles and setting the foundation for producing the best possible sounds on their instruments.
