After-School Band Information

In addition to the weekly band lessons, we will be holding 5th grade full band rehearsals in the Lisle Senior High School Band Room on Tuesday afternoons from 3:15-4:15.  These rehearsals will be held every week school is in session starting Tuesday, November 5, 2019 and continuing through Tuesday, May 5, 2019.  We are all very excited to get the full band together in one room and see what it sounds like!

These rehearsals are very important to each student's musical development as we teach many concepts that are not covered in the weekly lessons.  In the after-school full band rehearsals, we combine all the students to prepare for our concerts.  Therefore, it is absolutely necessary for the students enrolled in the 5th grade band program to attend all of the rehearsals.  Please try to avoid after school appointments on Tuesdays as the students miss a significant amount of material when they are gone.  Wrestling coaches will instruct students also involved in wrestling to attend band on Tuesdays and wrestling the other days.

Transportation to Lisle High School and home after rehearsals will be provided by the school district.  Buses will leave Lisle Elementary before the regular dismissal time and take the students from LE to the High School for the 3:15 rehearsal.  Two 5th Grade Band buses will take the students to appropriate neighborhood bus stops after rehearsal.  The bus service after the rehearsals will also include those students who normally walk to school in the morning. They will be bused to appropriate intersections near their home.  If your child goes somewhere other than your home address after school (after-school care, grandparents' house, etc.), please contact Mr. Meyer as soon as possible so he can set up an appropriate route.  Parents have the option of picking up the students after rehearsal as this will be a faster way home.  The two band buses do take some time due to the long routes.

The 5th Grade Band will present their first Concert on Wednesday, December 11th at 6:30 PM at Lisle Senior High School. We will be doing a combined concert with the Lisle Elementary choruses.  Invite all the relatives and bring your video cameras for this entertaining first performance!
