February Info You will soon receive Cabaret Night “mailer” through e-mail. (You will need to print your order forms, shout-out add, etc.) This is for the annual Cabaret Night fund raiser. Please plan on attending and sign-up to help in any way that you can! It is very important that we have a large turn-out for this enjoyable event including raffles, silent auctions, photo booth, great jazz from our junior high, high school, and alumni group, tasty treats and more! LATER THIS WEEK, all band students will be given a Grand Raffle envelope containing a letter and tickets to take home.
The next Pep Band performances will be Wednesday, Jan. 31st AND Tuesday, Feb. 6th.. Students should arrive by 6:10. We should be done by 7:10. Please wear black band t-shirts.
*Jazz Band (Mr. Schraub) and Jazz Combo (Mr. Gumina) will be performing at the New Trier Jazz Festival on Saturday, Feb.3rd. They will be gone for the entire day. Arrive at Lisle HS by 6:15 AM, leave at 6:30 AM, and return at 11:00 PM. Students may bring some money for lunch. The LBPO is helping pay for the cost of meals for this long day AND your evening ticket cost. Dress clothing required!!
The monthly LBPO Meeting is Monday, February 5th at 7:00 PM in the HS Conference Room. The CABARET NIGHT meeting will begin at the end of the LBPO meeting at approximately 7:45 PM. All Cabaret Chairs should attend.
*Next Monday, Feb. 5th is our required evening rehearsal so that percussion and winds can rehearse together. Symphonic Band & Percussion will be from 7:00-8:00. Concert Band & Percussion will be from 8:00-9:00. Please check schedules and arrange for rides. A detailed time sheet is attached.
*Monday, Feb. 12th is our next HS Band concert. The students should arrive no later than 6:45 PM. The concert is in the Auditorium at 7:30 PM. The students have been working very hard, so let’s fill those auditorium seats with supportive parents, siblings, and friends!
*Saturday, Feb. 17th is our 35th Annual Cabaret Night at Lisle High School. Many students will need to be at the HS for set-up and decorations from about 8:30-3:00. Students will be signing-up for duties in class. This includes waiter/waitress, kitchen help, coat check, decorations, etc. Sign-up sheets will be done electronically on a Google Sheet link from Mr. Gumina. ALL HIGH SCHOOL BAND STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS EVENT! Non-performers are responsible to “work” from approximately 5:45-10:30 pm. Jazz performers will set-up during the morning from 9-12, have short rehearsals in the afternoon, and perform in the evening (they do not have to sign-up for waiter/waitress, kitchen, coat-check jobs).
*The Symphonic Band and 10th-12th Percussionists will be performing at the Midwest Music Festival hosted by Lemont High School on Saturday, February 24th. The performance time has been requested for the afternoon (likely around 3:30), but I will send confirmation and details ASAP. I would like to request several Symphonic & Percussion parents to attend as chaperones. Please let me know.
Congratulations to the following students. They were nominated to represent Lisle HS at this school year’s I-8 Honor Band festival hosted by WESTMONT High School. The date is Monday, February 26th. They will be gone from very early in the morning and return around 9:00 PM. Transportation WILL be provided. Here are the students participating: Bich-Nhu Pham, Terrence Lin, JulesCole, Anthony Aguilar, Daphne Hoffman, Docia Jarecki, Devin Tincu, Nick Sima, Alexandra Sohl, Jacob Misavage, Nick Brown, Joel Clancy, Parker Barrette, and Evan Schwemer.
A look ahead: Saturday, March 3rd – Solo/Ensemble contest at Joliet Catholic Academy (only students that volunteered). Also, on this same day, ALL PERCUSSIONISTS will be attending the trip to Elk Grove HS for the annual Percussion Festival. Solo/Ensemble times are currently being scheduled and the Percussionists time will likely be from 9:00 am– 2:00 pm.
